Five schools taking part in the Musical Futures Northern Ireland Pilot have successfully applied to EMI music sound foundation for instrumental resources to support the pilot.

The schools have secured  £2,100 between them to purchase instruments.

Three schools (St Cecilia’s College, St Brigid’s College and Limavady Grammar school) received £200 each to purchase bass guitars and St Peters High School and Immaculate Conception College received £750 each to purchase a wider selection of instruments.

Sarah Murphy of Wall2Wall Music, Musical Futures' national co-ordinator in Northern Ireland said:

'We're delighted. The five schools involved are within the 20% most deprived electoral wards in Northern Ireland and these instruments will make a significant difference to the delivery of Musical Futures for their students. Having talked to the schools and students they would like to give a huge thank you to both EMI Music Sound Foundation for the support with instruments and to Paul Hamlyn Foundation who are funding the Musical Futures pilot in Northern Ireland'.
