When Musical Futures approaches are used effectively in a school a typical outcome is for students to emerge as being musically talented who teachers and practitioners were not aware of. Musical Futures is currently seeking partnerships with other organisations to work together to ensure that students who emerge as talented from non-traditional routes have progression opportunities and support available to them. Please contact Anna Gower, Head of Programmes for more information.
We invited young a capella vocal groups to apply to be part of a ‘Beatbox Choir’ at the Music Learning Revolution on 23rd October 2015. They will have the opportunity to develop their vocal, performing, composing and improvising skills through working with internationally acclaimed beatboxer Shlomo, vocal animateur Greg Beardsell and session vocalist and ex-Musical Futures student Harriet Syndercombe Court. In a two-hour workshop the young vocalists will collaborate to create a brand new piece of urban vocal music, based on their own musical interests, which they will then perform to 300+ delegates at the culmination of the Music Learning Revolution. Selected performing groups are Life’s A Pitch, New-Bridge Integrated College, Northern Ireland; Hackney Voice, The City Academy Hackney, London; Acatude, Les Beaucamps High School, Guernsey; VoxBox, The East Manchester Academy, Manchester. The finished piece will be posted here!
