Andy Stott and Katie Chatburn: Can we push beyond genre and into music?



Andy Stott is the first Head of Popular Music at the RNCM and is Musical Director of the RNCM Session Orchestra. His career as a music educator has seen him heading music departments at a number of top institutions in addition to examiner roles in the UK and abroad and mentoring for rock and pop festivals.

Katie Chatburn is a professional composer – including original music for radio drama, film/TV orchestration and composition, pop/rock string arranging, original theatre and dance projects, collaborations with contemporary poets and a range of educational and outreach work. She currently lectures part time in Film Music, Composition/Songwriting, Musicianship, Popular Culture Studies and Music Business at the Royal Northern College of Music.
