Funding confirmed for Musical Futures Australia

Fantastic news today for Musical Futures Australia – they’ve now had all funding confirmed, and the rollout of MF has been written into government papers.

In a budget statement, Australian Education Minister James Merlino said “Music should be part of a modern curriculum, and the Budget provides $2 million to establish quality music programs in all government schools and help students buy musical instruments”. He has previously said “Exposure to music education means better grades, better results and better attendance, it’s a proven link.”

Big congratulations to MF Oz from everyone in MF UK!

Brilliant ideas to take forward into my own teaching… a fantastic day – left with lots of new ideas and strategies…

The children I am working with are responding to positively. They are very keen to learn new music and don’t not feel threatened to play. They enjoy the ‘have a go’ and ‘just play’ strategy.

Mhairi Easton, Southesk primary School

Yesterday’ss RSL course was absolutely outstanding. The school was awe inspiring and just walking round the corridors gave me some excellent ideas to implement at my own school. With regards to the RSL aspect of the course, I now have a strong understanding on how to run it and know how my assignment briefs should look etc. etc.
