Musical Futures is working with the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University, Canada, to develop a Canada-wide program of professional development and research to support the growth of, and further embed, Musical Futures’ approaches to music making with young people.
Western’s Don Wright Faculty of Music has the largest music education faculty complement of all universities in North America and is one of the top schools of musical excellence in Canada. The Faculty will work with Musical Future to continue to offer valid professional development and graduate education in the pedagogies and issues related to such work in music.
Ruth Wright is Associate Professor in the Don Wright Faculty of Music, having served as Chair, Music Education (2009 to 2013) and Assistant Dean, Research (2013-15). She views access to socially and culturally inclusive music education as a basic human right for all young people. She is the co-founder with Dr. Betty Anne Younker and Dr. Carol Beynon of Musical Futures Canada.
