How long have you been working with Musical Futures?

At North Liverpool Academy we have teaching Musical Futures for 4 years and it has had an amazing impact on our curriculum. Just Play is now an integral part of our key stage three curriculum and the impact of including the resources as part of our teaching has meant that our numbers at key stage four have gone from 4 pupils to 30+ pupils.

What do you do?

My role as Curriculum Leader for Music means that I am in charge of curriculum design, enrichment activities across the school, primary liaison, PGCE music mentor and management of resources and peripatetic teachers.

I also work closely with are local music hub ‘Resonate’ delivering CPD across Liverpool and I provide training for PGCE students from Liverpool Hope University.

What is your background?

I studied a BMUS (HONS) at The University of Huddersfield and then completed my PGCE. I am a classically trained flautist and I can also play piano along with a variety of classroom instruments.

I have been teaching classroom music since 2005 and taught in a variety of different schools.
