Lewis School
What do you do?
I am the Head of Music at Lewis School Pengam, an Arts Champion for the South East Wales Region and Lead School for Music as part of our Education Consortia (EAS).
What is your background?
I completed a Music degree at Cardiff University and a PGCE at Cardiff Met. I started working at Lewis School Pengam in 2000 and became Head of Department in 2013. I was trained as a classical musician however since teaching at an all boys comprehensive school in South Wales I’ve had to adapt my skill-set to engage my pupils.
What are you most looking forward to working with Musical Futures on this programme?
We are looking forward to working with like-minded schools to push forward the use of music technology in the classroom. As a result of working together we will strengthen music education in the South Wales valleys and prove its value as a life-changing subject. Pupils and parents must realise that there are viable career options available with hard work and determination.
